Super Smash Brothers Melee
Technical Terms & Names List
These are terms we use all the time while we play. If I think of any more, I'll add them later. Most people have no idea what we are talking about. So, I have compiled this list of terms that we use to refer to moves and things in the game so that you could understand our technical jargon and use these great terms yourself. It not only makes you more popular with your friends, but gets you the ladies too. (The last sentence may not be tru in any, and all, cases.)
Character Nicknames
- Jaundice Kirby or "Nate Gick Tribute" Kirby. - Chad Ganondorf. His name was created by Les and Pat.
- Angry Kirby or Bleeding Vagina Kirby (2nd name only used by Heath). - Toby Gordon. Also created by Les and Pat.
- Drunk Pikachu. He is my 3rd character, and the only kewl Pikachu. - Heart Falcon. He looks like he has a heart on his head. He can also go by Toby Gordon as well.
- Bumble Bee Ness. - Patricia Seavings. Her name was taken from this story.
- Doomhead. Occasionally (mostly never) called Yoshi. Created by Ben. - Charles Kooper. His name was taken from this story.
- Easter Seals Luigi. - "Lord of the Rings" Roy. All green characters can also be referred to as "Lord of the Rings" characters as jokes, but this is the only true one.
- Silent Film Mario. - Tennis Falco or Original Falco.
- Jumpman. (An old standard.) - Clubbing Falco.
- Wario. (An old standard.) - Clubbing Falco or Heath's Boyfriend Falco.
- The Incredible Hulk. (An old standard. He is the green DK, if you can't tell from the thumbnail.) - Business Falco.
Pokeman Related Terms/Names

- "Rawr! I'm a dragon!" - This phrase is often said when Charizard pops out. This is a phrase we came up with that would be funny for Charizard to say. The "I'm a dragon!" part is normally said in a higher-pitched and goofy voice.

- Julius Scizor. It is a simple play on words that has stuck as this Pokemon's name.

- Jimmy Buffet. Another play on words that gets used most of the time..
Between Game Terms
"Stop being childish!" - Riley said this every time we would do things that would annoy him, i.e. moving the C button around wildly while he messed with the menus, changed his character to a computer just before starting a match, etc. We all started using this phrase if someone did something annoying to us. After awhile we started doing those annoying things, like moving the C button around while in menus, and then saying the "stop being childish", thereby jokingly blaming it on your friends (even though they all know you were doing it).

"Sometime Today"

- Often said very long like "Sometime tooooooooooday." This phrase was used by Nate alot, but caught on quickly with everyone else. It is normally said when someone is stalling to allow another match, i.e. taking a while to push the start button after a match is over, not picking a character very fast, etc.

"Touch the Orb"

- This phrase was created by Les. It refers to the glowing ball under the Final Destination stage, and is said when someone is close to getting back but can't get back all the way. Les claims touching the orb will make you invincible, however, it's really hard to get back, if not impossible. That's why it's funny.
Commonly Used Terms
Das Boot - Originally "Da Boot," taken from one of Nate's phrases during the game. The phrase was something like, "I gave you the boot," which sounded like "I gave you da boot!" This was later shortened to just "Da Boot" and then finally adding a sort of German touch (though none of us are German) we made it Das Boot. This move is done using aerial A. It is associated with Dr. Mario, Mario, or Luigi, but can also be preformed by Yoshi, Falco, Fox, Samus, Sheik, Link, Young Link, and Jigglypuff. Captain Falcon and Ganondorf do a Double Das Boot.
Triple Boot - A special combo only preformed by Luigi, but possibly could be preformed by other characters that can do the "Das Boot" move. This combo is keeping a person in the air while hitting them with the Das Boot three times straight up in the air. If done correctly, the other character will die on the third hit. This combo requires perfect timing, because the Das Boot's must be pulled off at the precise time.
Batcave - This move is done using aerial Back+A. This can only be preformed by Dr. Mario, Mario, and Luigi.
Meatclub - This move is done using aerial Forward+A. It has also been referred to as the Meatfist. This can only be preformed by Dr. Mario, Mario, Luigi, and Ganondorf.
Diving Meatclub - This move is done by using the aerial Forward+A then hitting down. This can only be preformed by Dr. Mario, Mario, and Ganondorf.
Diving Das Boot - This move is done by using the aerial A then hitting down. This can be preformed by everyone that can Das Boot.
Backwards Meatclub
- This move is done by standing behind the person (facing away from them) then jumping in front of them and doing an aerial Forward+A. It looks the best when using a double-jump, and can also be used in conjunction with the Shorthop Meatclub. This can only be preformed by Dr. Mario, Mario, Luigi, and Ganondorf.
Shorthop Meatclub
- This move is done by doing a shorthop into an aerial Forward+A. This can only be preformed by Dr. Mario, Mario, Luigi, and Ganondorf.
"Across the Level" Meatclub - This move is done by having a Bunny Hood and then using aerial Forward+A. It can also be done using a double-jump. This can be preformed by everyone that can Meatclub.
Meat Mallet - This move is done using aerial Forward+A and can only be preformed by the Ice Climbers.
Insta-kill - This is move is done using Up+B (for the Mushroom Kingdom characters), Down+B for Jigglypuff, and Forward+B for Mr. Game & Watch (only on 9). It can only be preformed by Dr. Mario, Mario, Luigi, Jigglypuff, and Mr. Game & Watch. Out of the three male Mushroom Kingdom characters, Heath claims the only tru Insta-kill is Luigi's, since the other two character's Up+B do not kill anyone like Luigi's.
Karate Chop - Usually said with a bad Chinese accent. This move is done using Forward+A smash and is only preformed by Luigi.
Break Dance
or Break Face
- So named because it looks like a Break Dance on most of the characters, this move is done using the Down+A smash. Any character's Down+A smash is referred to as this, even if it doesn't look anything like a break dance (i.e. Mewtwo's). The second name for this move was derived from the phrase "I'm gonna break ya face," which was said a lot when using the break dance move. It was eventually shorten to just Break Face, but is normally told in the past tense (i.e. "Broke ya face", "I broke face", etc.).
The Defibrillator - This move is done using Foward+A smash and is only preformed by Dr. Mario.
Fo' Shoa! - This move is done using Foward+B and can only be preformed by Peach. It got it's named from the sound she makes when doing the move. It sounds like "For Sure!" being said in slang, just like Al would say it.
Chad Slam - This is just the name of Ganondorf's aerial Down+A, which was so named because of his Nickname (described earlier).
Back Fist of Chad - This is the name of Ganondorf's aerial Back+A, which is also named because of his Nickname.
Stinger - This is the name for Ness's aerial Back+A. This is used with Bumble Bee Ness (described earlier).
Ness-tle Crunch - This is the name for Ness's aerial Down+A. The candy bar called "Nestle Crunch" seemed to work for this play on words.
Roll of Doom - This is done by simply rolling with Yoshi. It's hard to hit Yoshi when he is rolling around a lot.
Ass of Doom - This move is done using aerial Down+A and can only be preformed by Yoshi.
Knee of Death - This is the name for Captain Falcon's aerial Foward+A. (An old standard.) Heath likes to call it the "Knee of Doom", though only Doomhead can do moves with "doom" in the title.
Bucket O' Skeet - This move is done by using Mr. Game & Watch's Down+B after the bucket is full.
Mary Poppins Bucket O' Skeet - This move is done by doing Mr. Game & Watch's Bucket O' Skeet move while holding a Parasol. Any move can be a "Mary Poppins" move by simply having a Parasol while you do it. They are most commonly done in the air, because it adds to their effectiveness. The most commonly used "Mary Poppins" move done is the Mary Poppins Meatclub.
Turner Headencoff - This move is preformed by holding up and then pressing A. It can only be done by characters that upper cut with that move. We named it like we did because "Turn Your Head And Cough" (the moves original name) sounds like a person's name when you say it fast.
Turner Boxencrotch - This move is preformed by throwing a box up into another character. This move was named in a similar fasion as "Turner Headencoff", in that "Box In Crotch" sounds like a last name when said fast.
Famous Nate Phrases
"Take your pills" - This is what Nate would say right as he would hit Dr. Mario's pill move (aka the B button).
"Broke your face!" - This is what Nate would say right after he would do his Down+A smash.
"Get out of here!" - This is what Nate would say as you were twirling in his grab move (aka the grab and then pressing the opposite way he's facing; normally preformed near the edges of the levels).
Item Names
Nathan Scott Phillips - aka the Bunny Hood. This is an Aqua Teen Hunger Force reference. In one of the episodes, Meatwad wants a bunny and gets a snake instead. He said he was going to name his bunny "Nathan Scott Phillips" (because it's Latin for warm). It's just logical that the Bunny Hood should be named similar. Normally, when a player is wearing the Bunny Hood, they replace one of the names in the name "Nathan Scott Phillips" with their characters name (i.e. "Kirby Scott Phillips", "Nathan Scott Luigi", etc.). There are no rules on which of the 3 words you replace, just as long as the message is clear. (This phrase is no longer used.)
Rape Moves
Captain Falcon - This move is done using Up+B. His is the most realistic rape move on here because he screams, "Yes!" while doing it.
Ganondorf - This move is done using Up+B.
Bowser - This move is done using the grab and then pressing down.
